New Stradic CI4+ '16

New Model: SHIMANO Stradic CI4+ ’16 – Mid Range High Spec Machine

The previous model Stradic’15 is the “Next Biomaster” model, that inherits the big flag-ship model of the SHIMANO reel “Biomaster”.

Now, SHIMANO also announced the new spinning reel having the same name “Stradic CI4+’16” will be released soon this early summer.

Difference of Stradic Ci4 FA and Stradic CI4+ ’16

As you know, they both have the same name Stradic, which you may be familiar with, as the Stradic Ci4 FA has already been sold in the world. Meaning, they are the both in between Japanese one and English one?

The colouring can be quite similar, both has black – silver body with red spool.

But the Japanese one, Stradic CI4+ ’16 actually belongs to the Quick Response Series, not even as Stradic ’15 – Core Solid Series.

This new Stradic CI4+ has New Magnum Light Rotor, which gives you quicker response, lighter but stronger.

This New Magnum Light Rotor is not actually installed to other CI4+ series, but only this to Stradic CI4+. Same as the new Vanquish!

Moreover, this new Stradic CI4+ also has other incredible features – G Free Body that makes you feel the reel lighter than actual weight, Hagane Gear that is the stronger but smoother reeling gear feature, X-Ship that achieves both powerful and smooth reeling feeling, and the Core Protect that gives maximum water proof feature to the core parts of the reels.

Also, Stradic Ci4 FA only has 4 models, with fast gear only, but the new Stradic CI4+ ’16 has 9 models, with slow / fast gear, and shallow / medium / normal spools.

And comparing to the weight at the same number, let’s see 2500 for example – Stradic Ci4 2500 FA is 195g, but Stradic CI4+ 2500HGS is 185g. 10g – 20g lighter than Stradic Ci4 FA for whole models.
Instead, Stradic CI4+ does not have 1000 mode.

Spec and Release Date

As written above, new Stradic CI4+ ’16 has 9 models – from 2000 to 4000, with mixture of power / high gear and different depth of spools.

The price range is 30,000 yen – 33,000 yen, meaning the real selling price can be around 20,000 yen.

Release date is not exactly announced yet but around this June.

    1. Hi Pao Ly,
      Thank you for your comment!
Unfortunately all the line-ups of 2000-2500 are only with shallow spool, so if C2000S does not have enough line capacity you will need to go up with 2500S or C3000.
The cheapest one from Rakuten is this:
      C3000HG – 23,436yen
      Normal Gear Ratio:
      2500S , C3000 – both 27,400yen
      Thanks.

    1. Thank you Steven for the checking 🙂
This specs are actually picked from the Shimano officlal page as below:
      http://fishing.shimano.co.jp/product/reel/4350
and calculated to as 1Gou = 10lb, and this diameter of “Gou” is based on Shimano products.
This can be, of course, shorter or longer depending on the variety of the diameter of the braid line you use, the same 10lb line can be differed by each products / brands, and some stronger / expensive braid lines can have stronger line pond test with the same 1Gou diameter.
This can also be differed by how tight you wrap your line to the spool, tighter can be longer, looser can be shorter as well.
Please refer to the line spec as just an rough idea.
