Fish more casually, more easily, anytime and anywhere.
In recent years, many manufacturers have released mobile rods designed for portability. But this time, Tailwalk has taken things to an entirely new level.
They have announced a mobile rod with a closed length of just 18cm.
Yes, 18cm.
That is even shorter than a 500ml plastic bottle.
Let us take a closer look at this incredibly compact telescopic rod: the Tailwalk Outback Puppy.
What Makes an 18cm Closed Length Possible?
The minimum closed length of the Tailwalk Outback Puppy is 18cm.
Of course, being a telescopic rod already helps keep it shorter than a multi-piece rod, but Tailwalk went even further. The rod is cleverly designed to separate into three sections: the rod blank, the reel seat, and the grip.
Thanks to this unique structure, Tailwalk achieved an ultra-compact closed length ranging from 18cm to 22.5cm, depending on the model.
A small companion that goes anywhere, anytime.
That concept is exactly where the name Outback Puppy comes from.
Six Models in the Lineup
Despite its extremely short closed length, the Outback Puppy series includes six different models.
Power ranges from UL (Ultra Light) to ML (Medium Light), and rod lengths span from 4 ft 8 in to 6 ft 2 in.
The shortest and lightest model is the S41L-T.
It measures 4 ft 1 in in length and weighs an astonishing 59 g.
With L power, it is rated for 2 to 7 g lures.
Solid Tip Design to Reduce Breakage Risk
One inherent weakness of telescopic rods is tip breakage. This is a common issue due to their structure.
To minimize this risk, Tailwalk uses a carbon solid tip, improving durability while maintaining sensitivity.
In addition, each rod comes with a Fuji PTC top cover, featuring a V-shaped fixing section and securing belt. This protects the tip securely, even when the rod is stored inside a bag.
Specs and Release Date
As mentioned above, the Tailwalk Outback Puppy lineup covers UL, L, and ML powers, with lengths ranging from 4 ft 1 in to 6 ft 2 in.
The scheduled release date is late April.

Final Thoughts
With a maximum closed length of just 22.5cm, this rod pushes compact design to the extreme. How small can a rod be, and how usable can it remain?
We were curious enough to place an order for the ML model, and we cannot wait to see how it performs in real fishing situations.
Once it arrives, we plan to publish a full review video on our YouTube channel, so stay tuned.
