SHIMANO has announced new coming products on this Autumn / Winter as we have already introduced their new coming spinning reels the other day, and here are more information – Overhead reels.
If you are mainly offshore angler, then these could be your must-check items.
21 Barchetta
Offshore light game overhead reel has been renewed since 17 Barchetta.
Body material is the same carbon material originated by SHIMANO, Ci4+ but as official says, the clutch has been upgraded so it can move smoother and more firmly on / off.
Feature is exactly the same as 17 Barchetta, Exciting Drag Sound / S A-RB / LED Back Light / Super Free Spool but has wider range from #100 – #300 sizes.
They also have longer cranking handle – 55mm long double handle for #100 / #150 double handle models is 4mm longer than ’17 model (with different size EVA round knobs) and 60mm long single handle is attached to #150 single handle models / #300 is 9mm longer than ’17 models.
Those longer handle can create stronger reeling torque that can make fighting with stronger fish, easier.
Price range is from 23,000 – 24,000 yen but release date is yet to be set, due to coronavirus pandemic.
21 Barchetta BB
Affordable version of Barchetta has been renewed from ’17 models.
Features are exactly the same as the previous ’17 Barchetta BB – S AR-B / LED Back Light / Super Free Spool but again handle length gets longer, as well as 21 Barchetta, 55mm double handle and 60mm long single handle are attached to new models.
Previous 17 Barchetta BB’s #300 size is now changed the number to #150 with the same line capacity and #600 size is now changed the number to #300.
Price range is from 16,500 – 17,500 yen but again, release date is yet to be set, due to coronavirus pandemic.
21 Ocea Jigger
SHIMANO’s flagship overhead reel for jigging now has extra models.
#1500 size now has XG – extra speed gear model, that has MAX 97cm retrieve length per one crank.
#2000 size has MG – medium speed gear models and XG – extra speed gear models, therefore you can pick more accurate one to your purpose.
All the gear ratio / retrieve range of #2000 are now:
PG – 5.1 / 96cm
MG – 5.7 / 107cm
HG – 6.2 / 117cm
XG – 7 / 132cm
Handle knob for 21 Ocea Jigger is the same one of 19 Ocea Jigger F Custom.
Price range is 50,500 – 55,500yen and 1500XG/2000NRMG/2000NRXG will be released at the end of this July 2021, 1501XG/2001NRMG/2001NRXG will be at this October, 2021.
21 Beast Master 3000 EJ
Interesting fishing method – electric jigging for offshore is becoming more common these years, and now SHIMANO is releasing big size electric reel for electric jigging, 21 Beast Master 3000 EJ.
Based on Beast Master 3000 it has tuned more to fit into offshore jigging use, with programing – Jigging Mode.
Manual Jerk Mode, Auto Jerk Mode have been programmed like other EJ reels but this also has another mode – Advance Mode so that you can change jerking strength to your desired one byH-High/M-Middle/L-Low and this new mode can give you more variety of jerking pattern like hand jerking.
GIGA-MAX Motor is also specially tuned for electric jigging.
Price is 135,000 yen and releasing date is set to August, 2021.
As you have already saw those overhead reels coming in this Autumn / Winter are only for offshore and sadly, no baitcaster is coming yet.
