At the show of new coming products, here we introduce you one of DAIWA’s new bait casting reel today.
The previous model DAIWA Steez is like a brand of DAIWA, which includes some of bait casting reels, 1 spinning reel and some of rods, and they are based on Bass fishing.
Now that Steez will have the new bait casting reel series – named DAIWA Steez CT SV TW.
New “CT” – Compact & Tough Concept Bait Casting Reel
As you see, this new Steez has some of codes after the name. So what are they?
SV is initials of “Stress free Versatile”, which actually is the new spool from DAIWA, thatis the total anti-backlash system with new break and spool. I won’t explain the details but this is used to many DAIWA bait casting reels, and we have lots of positive impressions.
TW is about TWS – T-Wing System, the DAIWA’s new shape of the levelwind. That is shaped like “T”, that gives 2 different position when you cast, and when you wind up. That gives more free space of lines when casting, that makes casting distance longer than previous levelwinds. And when you wind, the line position will sit down the bottom by reeling tension, so that won’t have any of free space on side and it will keep the line winding tight.
And the new “CT” – is the initials of Compact & Tough, like “LT” concept for spinning reel. Especially this new Steez CT SV TW has the smallest diameter spool, which is φ30mm. Other Steez have φ34mm spools, so new one is 4mm smaller than others.
This smaller spool actually makes some merits like, the spool weight is lighter than others, so it’s easier and lighter to spin, meaning you can cast light weight lures easier than others. Also, the lighter spool can stop easier than bigger, so break system power can be smaller than others as well.
Moreover, it can let the body smaller than others as well.
This smaller body, is actually an important thing for bait casting reels, because if they have smaller body you can grip and hold easier, to cast and retrieve. Needless to say, the smaller body has lighter weight as well.

This Steez CT SV TW only has 1 size, with 2 type of gear ratio and right-handed / left-handed.
This bait casting reel will be on sale at March.

What is spool weight of steez 700 ct xh?
Hi Mark, as it is not on sale yet we have not got the reel yet. However the previous model Steez SV TW spool weight was about 11.5g with bearings, and new Steez CT SV TW is about 10g lighter than that, so I assume the spool weight will be around 9-11g.
Hi Mark, I have asked to DAIWA Japan and was told the spool weight is 9.3g including bearing.
9,3g with bearing. 13,4g with full line.
