New I-DC5 “Intelligent” Digital Controled Blake System
The new I-DC5, equipped with the same level of control as the DC brake in the 23 Antares DC MD, combined with the MGL Spool III, promises stress-free casting of a wide range of lure weights with lighter, more agile performance.
The firmware inside the DC has been revamped to match the MGL Spool III, making the prospect of using it very exciting.
New Brake Adjustment Dial That Can Be Controlled Everything
This can be very exciting news for SHIMANO baitcasting users.
Previously, changing the mode on similar reels required removing the side plate due to the mode dial being inside, which was stressful.
However, the new 24 Metanium DC allows for mode changes without removing the side plate, offering the ability to fine-tune braking preferences across three line modes and five brake levels regardless of line type.
This update significantly enhances usability, allowing for more precise brake adjustments, such as switching from fluorocarbon to nylon mode for subtle brake strength changes, which is a highly appreciated improvement.
Unlike Other DC Reels – Tough, Rigid and Durable CoreSolid Metal Body
The 24 Metanium DC features a high-rigidity CoreSolid body, a first for DC-equipped reels, offering exceptional toughness in a low-profile design.
This integrated metal body is stronger and lighter than composite part bodies, maintaining a weight of 175g, equivalent to non-DC Metanium reels.
The solid body ensures smooth operation even under high loads, similar to spinning reels.
The sleek black CoreSolid body not only enhances performance but also adds a stylish edge to the reel’s appearance.
Powerful Yet Smooth – Micromodule Gear II
The 24 Metanium DC incorporates the renowned MicroModule Gear II, known for its ultra-small teeth that offer a silky-smooth reeling experience.
This version features a drive gear made from duralumin instead of the traditional brass, contributing to the reel’s lightness without sacrificing strength or performance.
Spec and Release Date
The 24 Metanium DC is available in just one size, offering a 70 / 12lb – 100m capacity, but spices things up with three gear ratios: a standard 6.1, a fast 7.1, and an ultra-fast 8.1.
For those leaning towards braided lines, you’re looking at roughly #2 – 140m capacity.
This setup keeps things versatile for different fishing styles and preferences.
