Seabass maker Ja-do produces 20th limited special rods!

One of Japanese seabass brand Ja-do is cerebrating their 20th anniversary this year, as already introduced at the previous article – Ja-do booth special items announced!.

As a part of their 20th project, their fishing rods are revealed at Fishing Festival 2020 and announced at their Youtube channel and Facebook page.

This is one of must-check item at the next Fishing Show OSAKA 2020!

Very committed blanks

Their thoughtful rods for multiple lure fishing are very interesting.

Those rods, designed by Hirohito Fujisawa, Ja-do’s professional angler, those looking is very different, in the first impression.
Based on black and “Ja-do pink” – one of their theme color of 20th anniversary is very cool isn’t it. As Mr. Fujisawa mentioned they selected this pink as not too cute, not too pink but different from other rods.

And he has also been committed to their blanks from materials.
New rods have 5 models – 3 for seabass fishing, 1 for small game fishing and 1 for jigging, and their carbon materials are slightly different each others.

You can’t see much information from internet at moment, as they just started to introduce these rods at the fishing shows, but he described about the blank of one model – Arbalest Fliar 8605LMF Bayarea Special.

Mid – butt of blank has 40,000kgf/mm2 carbon – pretty high value and hard material comparing to other seabass rods – with 0.6mm pitch taping, Mr Fujiwara explained. As he says, this 0.6mm pitch taping is very sensitive and delicate tech, which he thinks not much other brands don’t choose because they could cause of lots wastes, and this makes blank bends very smooth and beautifully.

But towards the tip, it has 30,000kgf/mm2 carbon, therefore the tip section can bends very flexibly.

Here is the video of Mr. Fujisawa explains the rod.

* Japanese only, please turn on automatic translator.

At 5:34 he shows how the tip bends.
This is amazing really. Usually that can only be achieved by solid tipped rods.
However solid tip can make tip section heavier than tubular tipped, that can distract its weight balance. Also the tip can be blurred when casting – Mr. Fujisawa says in the movie.

But this new Ja-do’s rod can bend like that, without distracting weight balance by heavier tip.

He is actually showing how it bends by heavier weights in Ja-do’s official Facebook movie as below:

He is firstly introducing one another of seabass rod – all rounder model Arbalest Sol Flare 8905MF (8’9″) at this Facebook Live movie.

At 10:52 he starts to bend the tip with rod standing upwards. This bending curve is very intense isn’t it?
As he repeatedly says you should not do this, because rods can break.
But this rod doesn’t!

And at 12:54 he is starting to bend more and more… And you can see very beautiful curve of the blank.

From 14:54 he then places weights to the rod, starting of 500g bucket. What he is saying at this scene is that, the tip section is very flexible and that can kill powers from fish fighting. But because the butt section is tough by 40,000kgf/mm2 carbon, it still keep the strong power to pull up fish to surface.

At 16:27 he gains the weight to 1kg, even pull and shake the rod. You might be scared of what he’s doing?
But he mentioned that’s bending beautifully but the rod itself has more room to bend even more.

He changes the rod to jigging model 6405LMR (6’4″, offshore jigging model) at 20:39.

That is showing the tip is really soft, then what about the rod’s sensitivity?
I actually posted a question by the comment about it, then he replied, it won’t affect to its sensitivity.
From 22:36 he is giving some signs by his finger, and the rod holder – Ja-do’s staff Mr. Shin says he can feel Mr. Fujisawa’s signs.

Now let’s come back to bending. From 27:43 he restarts to gain weights to the rod. Starting at 500g, then 1kg. The rod is stood up higher and the tip section bends very much, but it holds well.

He then gained to 1.5kg. At 31:24 the staff Mr. Shin starts to lift it up and you can see how beautiful the bend curve is. To me, that’s the ideal curve of fishing rod.

Weight is gained to 2kg at 32:10, then gained to 2.5kg. Even surprisingly, he even pulls more from 32:54 but the rod still keeps beautiful curve. The butt section starts to curve, but holds well.
He mentions in this movie, this light game rod tested more than 6kg of weight but did not break. Meaning, it will keep holding, even if you hook unexpected big fish.

He also mentions about its guides at 35:24, as of question has posted.
The guide ring is SiC-S, Fuji’s new SiC material ring. Seabass fishing rods Arbalest 3 models and light game model Duende have titanium T-KTSG guides. Jigging model have stainless guides.

From 51:47 he then shows the longest model, Arbalest Dark Elf 9405MLF (9″4′).
This rod has 40,000kgf/mm2 with 0.6 pitch taping for all sections unlike other models, to make the best balance for this long length.
Because of this, the tip section can bounce back when bends, more than other models.
Weight capacity is max 30g.

* In all movies, Mr. Fujisawa repeatedly mentions for you, don’t bend tips like he does, as it can damage your rod. He just does that to show potentials how they designed and he knows the rod characters, but you’d be better not to do that even if you get this rods.
